Here are a few thoughts and experiences that drive us to do more for you...
"We hired a specialist team to deliver a stylised fight sequence...they did that great; but the moment we asked them to adapt or flex their style they came apart...they just couldn't deliver what we needed"
Everyone on our team has trained in multiple skills and fighting styles.
Everyone on our team is a creative performer and is capable of blending skills, styles and techniques to provide you with what you need.
Equity Fight Directors spend much of their time teaching actors to fight instead of directing fights.
Equity Fight Directors have earned their spurs by gaining the highest level of dramatic combat qualification possible, training as fencing instructors and becoming stage combat instructors. They have then apprenticed under renown theatrical fight directors. As a result they are highly skilled individuals.
However, in our experience, there are precious few openings for Fight Directors in British Theatre (Where the average play requires 0 - 2 fights), TV or film (Where, typically, Stunt Co-ordinators develop the fights). As a result many of them rely on their teaching qualifications to earn a living; meaning that many (but not all) Fight Directors spend much of their time instructing actors in the art of dramatic combat rather than practicing it.
JISC Stunt performers are trained to crash cars, fall of buildings, fire guns, get blown up, be set on fire and work in dangerous situations.
This is absolutely true...it is equally true that none of these stunts will need to be performed for a Motion Capture shoot. Instead these situation can be recreated, by a skilled team, within the confines of a Motion Capture Studio without the need to actually crash a car, fall off a building, fire a real gun, get blown up or be set on fire.
This, of course, does not mean that JISC Stunt Performers do not want to work on Motion Capture shoots...it's just that, in our experience, their preference is to work on a traditional film shoot
"I worked on a Motion Capture project where the fight team changed nearly every day. Over the course of the project I saw nearly a dozen different performers and choreographers...I have no idea how the project maintained any consistency in performance style"
We go out of our way to ensure your performance team maintains consistency throughout your project, and we will never swap directors or fight choreographers mid-way through a project.
If you hire a probationary JISC Stunt Performer you must also hire a JISC Stunt Co-ordinator.
If you hire multiple JISC Stunt Performers you must also hire a JISC Stunt Co-ordinator
If you hire a single JISC Stunt Performer, with full membership, they can self co-ordinate; as long as they are working on their own and not overseeing any other stunts.
JISC Stunt Performers rates begin at over £500 per day and can rise to several thousand a day; depending on experience and the project.
Top stunt performers can command nearly any fee when working on a Hollywood blockbuster
JISC Stunt performers are worth every penny they charge...they are highly trained and highly skilled performers. Stunt co-ordinators have immense levels of experience and bring a level of gravitas and safety to any project.
However, in our experience, most Motion Capture fight and action projects do not require the skills or level of skills (or budgetary consumption) of a stunt performer or stunt co-ordinator.
Instead we provide you highly accomplished performers, choreographers and directors who can deliver the performance you need without compromising on quality or safety.
We will be the first to let you know if your shoot requires JISC stunt performers.
